In the case of any absence, parents will receive a text from the College before midday, followed by an email at the end of the day.
Parents are expected to verify each absence. Explanations for student absences can be recorded through the Parent Portal or the College App. Notations in the student diary are not sufficient.
The College is required by the Education Act to collect an explanation for student absences within seven days.
If there is no explanation provided within seven days the absence will be recorded as unexplained on your child’s College records.
The number of days absent is recorded on a student’s report each semester. Late arrival and partial absences are also recorded on the student’s report. An excessive number of days missed can compromise a student’s progression to the next year or the award of a Higher School Certificate.
If you are having difficulty with the Parent Portal and the College App, you should contact the Office by phone or via another child in the family when a student is unable to attend College for the day.
