2025 UNIFORM CODE

The College has developed a Uniform Code to establish uniform expectations at the College.

Students must:

  • wear the relevant uniform items that are illustrated in the 2025 Uniform section of this Handbook.
  • wear only items that have been produced by the College Uniform Shop (including socks and scarves)
  • ensure that shoes are polished regularly
  • ensure all items of clothing and footwear are clearly labelled with the student’s name
  • ensure that the uniform is cared for, washed, and pressed

Students must:

  • wear girls’ dresses and skirts on the knee
  • ensure boys shirts are always tucked in
  • ensure only plain black belts are worn
  • wear outer garments as set out below:

    Summer Uniform Period
    The College V-neck jumper (Prep-Year 2) and the knit jumper (Years 3-12) can be worn as the uniform outer garment for additional warmth, however, it is not to be worn as the outer part of the sports uniform.
    The College blazer (Senior School) is optional in the Summer Uniform Period

    Winter Uniform Period
    The College blazer (Senior School) is the only approved uniform outer garment during the Winter Uniform Period. In Senior School, the jumper can be worn at anytime underneath the blazer.
    In Junior School, the College bomber jacket (K-6) must be the outer garment when traveling to and from the College and on excursions.

    Special Occasions
    The College blazer (Senior School) is compulsory for Special Occasions in all seasons

Students must:

  • ensure shorts are mid-thigh length or longer
  • not wear visible underlayers
  • wear the College track or soft shell jacket when additional warmth is required. If further warmth is required students can wear the knit jumper but it must be under the jacket (3-12)
  • wear sports uniform on the weekly College Sport day (Tuesday for Senior School and Wednesday for Years 3-6 and P-2 as advised)
  • wear sports uniform on the PDHPE class sport day in Junior School
  • except on Tuesdays, Senior School present to class in normal College uniform for each lesson and get changed into the sports uniform for practical lessons
  • Senior School students are required to wear House shirts to all carnivals and designated House events.
  • Junior School students have the option to wear College Sport or House shirts for carnivals
  • two-piece swimming costumes for females are not permitted at College swimming carnivals
  • students who are selected to represent the College or CASA in swimming are required to wear a Thomas Hassall swimming cap
  • all students must wear black leather polishable school shoes with the College uniform
  • Senior School shoes must be lace up and the total height of the heel must not exceed 30mm for safety reasons
  • for safety reasons students who are not wearing acceptable school shoes will not be admitted to Science, Art and TAS practical lessons
  • Junior School students must wear sports shoes that are sturdy and predominantly white
  • Senior School students must wear sports shoes that are sturdy and conservative in colour (predominantly white, black, grey or silver)
  • shoes made from canvas eg Converse/ Volleys/ Vans are not permitted

Students must:

  • wear the Wide Brim Foam Hat (Junior School) all year round
  • wear the Formal Hat (Senior School) in the Summer Uniform Period
  • wear the Sports Cap for all sports activities and practical PDHPE lessons when outdoors in unshaded areas

We encourage students to use sunscreen when participating in outdoor activities and sports lessons.

A supply of sunscreen is available in Junior School Buildings and at the College Clinic for student use if not brought from home.

Students must:

  • ensure hair has been styled to appear neat and tidy each day
  • ensure hair is NOT cut, coloured (including highlights) or styled to draw attention (eg undercuts, shapes in sides)
  • ensure hairstyles do not restrict vision

Junior School girls must ensure hair that is shoulder length (touching the shoulder) or longer is tied up using a red or black elastic, and adding only a red scrunchie or ribbon (if desired)

Senior School girls must ensure hair that is shoulder length (touching the shoulder) or longer is tied up using blue elastics

Boys must:

  • have hair that is cut above the collar and out of the eyes
  • always be clean shaven
  • girls are only permitted to wear one small pair of earrings in the lower lobe (for safety reasons) and a watch (not smartwatches in Junior School)
  • boys are only permitted to wear a watch (not smartwatches in Junior School)
  • students must not wear nail polish, acrylics or artificial nails for safety reasons
  • students must not wear eyelash extensions
  • visible henna, temporary or permanent tattoos are not permitted
  • Senior School students may wear minimal, natural-looking makeup for the purpose of covering blemishes (the Principal or delegate reserves the right to determine inappropriate makeup)

From time to time, the College will allow students to come to school out of normal school uniform, including themed fundraising days, Unite Week cultural celebration and school excursions.

Students must:

  • ensure the standard of dress is equivalent to that of the uniform and does not draw particular attention to a student
  • wear shoes that fully cover their feet for safety reasons (open-style shoes, sandals and thongs are not to be worn)
  • Year 12 students are permitted to wear their Year 12 commemorative jackets with the College Uniform in place of the blazer or jumper for normal school days. For special events, Year 12 students must wear the College Blazer.
  • Year 6 students are permitted to wear their Year 6 commemorative shirts on sports and PE days.
